古くて大きな酒倉の一角にショップと試飲コーナー、ミーティングルームをつくるプロジェクト。重厚な大空間の中では、単純にハコ型の店舗ブースを挿入するだけでは全体の雰囲気に店舗が呑まれてしまいます。そのため今回は既存の架構グリッドに添うように新たな柱・梁を追加し、そこに間仕切りやディスプレイが絡み合うよう配置することで、古いものと新しいもの、大きなものと小さなものが滑らかに接続されるデザインを試みました。現在は使われていない塀の内側のスペースを露地として設え、店舗、ミーティング、試飲コーナーそれぞれへのアプローチとして活用し、試飲コーナーは街角から目立つ位置に配置、小さなバーとして独立使用することも可能な動線計画としています。
Sake Brewery in Kamada
This project involves creating a shop, tasting room and archive within a historic sake brewery in Kashiba City, Nara Prefecture. By adding new columns and beams to the existing structural grid and arranging earthen walls and display units to intertwine with them, the old and the new, the large and the small, are seamlessly connected. Visitors enter the shop, tasting room and archive via an approach that makes use of the old earthen walls and alleyway. The tasting room is situated on a street corner so that it can operate independently as a bar.
